Rashmika Mandanna’s latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has become one of Indian cinema’s highest-grossing films. Reflecting on the success, she credited director Sukumar for crafting the powerful character of Srivalli and expressed her admiration for his respect towards women.
In a recent interview, Rashmika highlighted how directors like Sukumar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga depict women as strong and courageous. She noted their craft reflects a deep respect for women, portraying them as equals who stand up against powerful men.
Using examples like Srivalli in Pushpa 2 and Geetanjali in Kabir Singh, Rashmika explained that such characters demonstrate the directors’ belief in women’s strength and independence.
There is a widespread impression that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a misogynist. However, Rashmika describes him as a feminist who believes in women’s power, which is an interesting perspective. It will be interesting to see how critics like Javed Akhtar respond to this.
