Ranbir Kapoor announced a nationwide film festival from December 13-15 to celebrate his grandfather Raj Kapoor's birth centenary on December 14. Speaking at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Ranbir revealed that 10 of Raj Kapoor's films are being restored through efforts by NFDC, NFAI, FHF and Kunal Kapoor.
The festival will showcase the restored classics emphasizing the importance of preserving cinema history. Ranbir highlighted the need to honor cinematic roots sharing a personal anecdote about introducing his daughter Raha to Raj Kapoor’s song "Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisaar."
Ranbir also expressed his dream to create a biopic on Raj Kapoor discussing challenges like portraying personal struggles and securing family approval. He hinted at collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the project. Additionally Ranbir shared excitement about reuniting with Bhansali for the film "Love & War," marking their first project together since "Saawariya" in 2007.
