2023 was not a standout year for Rakul Preet Singh, neither in South Indian nor Bollywood cinema. Her films, including Indian 2 in Telugu and Tamil, failed to make an impact at the box office. Similarly, the Tamil movie Ayalaan, which she featured in, did not contribute significantly to her career success.
Rakul had only two releases in 2023, both delayed projects originally scheduled for earlier years. Ayalaan was supposed to release during Diwali 2023 but faced multiple postponements, finally hitting the screens this year. Indian 2, too, was delayed and arrived later than planned.
Despite the setbacks, Rakul is optimistic about the new year, promising a fresh wave of impactful projects in both the South and North industries. In Bollywood, she has three upcoming films: De De Pyaar De 2, Meri Husband Ki Biwi, and Ameeri. She claims her roles in these movies will showcase her in new and exciting ways.
In the South, Indian 3, in which she has played a significant role, is slated for a theatrical release. Despite earlier rumors of an OTT premiere, director Shankar recently clarified that the film would indeed release in cinemas.
Rakul welcomed the New Year with her husband, Jackky Bhagnani, in London, where she also celebrated her birthday. This marks her first New Year celebration with Jackky after their marriage, making the occasion even more special.
As 2024 begins, Rakul looks to bounce back with promising projects and memorable performances, eager to win back her place in the hearts of audiences across industries.
