Pushpa 2 has received a tremendous response at the box office, with audiences praising Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil’s performances.
A highlight for fans is the "Jatara" scene, where Allu Arjun is dressed as Goddess Gangamma, a portrayal that faced censorship in Saudi Arabia due to its depiction of a male hero dressed as a goddess and references to Hindu deities.
The scenes were chopped off to screen the film in Saudi theatres.
Gangamma Jatara is an annual festival celebrated in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, where men dress up as the goddess and make a wish. It is believed that making a wish while dressed as the goddess ensures its fulfillment.
The festival’s legend also narrates Gangamma’s triumph over the cruel Palegadu, whom she defeated through her divine powers and disguises.
In Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun participates in these customs, donning Gangamma’s traditional attire, including a blue saree and lemon garlands, adding cultural depth to the film.
