Prabhas Film Faces Heat After Pahalgam Terror Attack

The recent terror attack near the scenic Baisaran area in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, sent shockwaves across the country. Known as a paradise for trekking lovers, the region witnessed sudden gunfire by terrorists targeting tourists, tragically claiming around 28 lives. The entire film fraternity condemned the brutal act beyond the lines of caste or religion.

Amid this, the upcoming movie “Fauji” starring Prabhas and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi has come into the spotlight—not for the storyline, but due to its lead actress Imanvi aka Imaan Ismail. Imanvi, who gained fame through social media dance videos, landed a role opposite pan-India star Prabhas, drawing much attention. However, her background has sparked controversy following the terror attack.

Imanvi, though residing in India, has familial roots in Pakistan. She is reportedly the daughter of a former Pakistani military officer and her family is currently based in Delhi. This Pakistani connection has now become a matter of concern for many netizens who are demanding her removal from the film.

Following the attack, there has been a growing sentiment against any mention or involvement of Pakistani nationals in Indian films. Social media is flooded with calls to replace Imanvi in "Fauji." However, a significant portion of the film has already been shot, making recasting a major logistical and financial challenge for the producers. Adjusting actor schedules and reshooting scenes would be a massive undertaking.

In past instances of terror attacks, there were calls to ban Pakistani artists from Bollywood. With the increasing international reach of Telugu cinema, similar demands are now emerging in Tollywood too. Whether the makers of Fauji yield to this pressure or find another way to handle the situation remains to be seen.
