In a recent Instagram post, Lady Superstar Nayanthara has strongly criticized Kollywood actor Dhanush. This was in connection with her upcoming documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, where she accused Dhanush of preventing the use of scenes and songs from her movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The documentary, which highlights her life and career, is set to release on Netflix on November 18 after overcoming several challenges.
Nayanthara, who married director Vignesh Shivan in 2022, expressed her frustration, claiming that Dhanush’s actions delayed the release. She described the actor’s behavior as hypocritical, accusing him of presenting one persona to fans while being entirely different behind the scenes.
In her detailed letter, she recounted her struggles in the film industry, starting with no background, and her rise to fame with the support of her father and brother. She emphasized that her fans were eagerly awaiting the documentary, but Dhanush’s refusal to grant permission for using scenes from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan had caused unnecessary delays. Despite several efforts to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from him, she was unable to include footage, songs, and photos from the movie in the documentary.
Nayanthara expressed her disappointment at Dhanush’s actions, stating that the music and scenes from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan were significant to her fans, and their absence in the documentary was a major setback. She also criticized his recent legal notice over a 3-second video from the documentary trailer and the demand for a massive compensation of Rs 10 crore, calling his actions inappropriate and vindictive.
The actress questioned whether a producer or actor had the right to control the personal lives and freedoms of other individuals and made it clear that they were ready to take legal action if necessary.
Her letter concluded with a request for clarification on why Dhanush had refused to grant the NOC and called for an explanation in court regarding the copyright issues related to the movie scenes and songs.
