No Comedy Tracks For Women In Hindi Cinema

In a recent interview, Vidya Balan praised Malayalam actors, particularly Urvashi and Sridevi, for their ease with comedy, a genre she feels lacks roles for women in Hindi cinema.

Vidya expressed admiration for actors like Fahadh Faasil, Basil Joseph, and Anna Ben in Malayalam films. Known for her love of comedy, she shares humorous content on social media and expressed a desire to act in Malayalam cinema, provided she receives quality roles. Vidya made her Malayalam debut in a special appearance in Urumi (2011), a historical drama directed by Santosh Sivan.

Recently, she starred in Do Aur Do Pyaar alongside Pratik Gandhi and Ileana D'Cruz. Her upcoming project Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 directed by Anees Bazmee, is set for release on November 1, 2024 where she will join Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri in this horror comedy installment.
