Actors Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif shared the screen in New York (2009), but their off-screen relationship started with frequent disagreements. Neil revealed in an interview that they fought from day one, as Katrina had issues with his complexion and acting style. She often interrupted him, making him frustrated, especially after coming from an intense film like Johnny Gaddaar.
Neil, who had formal acting training, felt uncertain about his approach, as Katrina was already a bigger star. Their conflicts escalated until he finally confronted her after she scolded him. Katrina then admitted she wasn’t angry but nervous, as she had only done comedy films before New York.
After clearing up their misunderstandings, they developed a smooth working relationship. Directed by Kabir Khan, New York was set against the 9/11 attacks and also featured John Abraham and Irrfan Khan in pivotal roles.
