Veteran actor Nana Patekar recently opened up about his personal life and a tragic event that shaped him.
He discussed his anger issues mentioning the loss of his elder brother and young son.
Nana believes he inherited his temper from his abusive mother who never showed sadness even after her eldest son died from a fall. In an interview Nana shared that his own son, born with multiple disabilities, died at two.
Reflecting on his initial reaction, he admitted, “I worried about what people would think of me, not about my son’s condition. Imagine what a terrible man I am.”
His son, named after the “angriest rishi” Durvasa, taught him a lot despite his short life. Nana also revealed that he hasn’t lived with his wife for years and she cared for his mother while he was away. After his son's death, Nana smoked heavily, which isolated him due to the foul smell. “I smoked about 60 cigarettes a day. It’s a very bad thing,” he said.
