Shah Rukh Khan, a prominent figure in Hindi cinema is known for his grand films in both romance and action genres. In a recent interview at the Locarno Film Festival he shared that he makes these big films for his late parents, who passed away when he was young.
During a podcast discussion, he reflected on his 2002 hit Devdas, explaining how it almost got shelved before he joined the project. He expressed a deep desire to create impactful films believing his parents would be proud and watching from "heaven." Although he described this belief as "childish," he still thinks of his mother as a star holding onto the idea that deceased loved ones shine in the sky.
Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was the most expensive Indian film at its time and achieved both commercial and critical success. Shah Rukh continues to take on major projects including an upcoming film with his daughter Suhana Khan.
