Mollywood #MeToo: Mohanlal Gives Clarity On His Stand

Veteran actor Mohanlal made his first public appearance on August 31 after resigning as President of AMMA, following the release of the Hema Committee Report on sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry.

During the Kerala Cricket League inauguration Mohanlal explained that he had been unavailable due to his wife’s surgery and addressed the recent allegations. 

He stated he is not part of any power group within the industry and called for punishment of wrongdoers if evidence exists. Mohanlal emphasized the need to protect and reconstruct the Malayalam film industry and suggested that similar reports be conducted in other industries. He urged the state government to take necessary actions without harming the industry. 

Mohanlal and the entire executive committee of AMMA resigned following the report's findings and the sexual misconduct allegations against notable figures in Mollywood.
