Meenakshi Seshadri, a prominent actress from the 1980s and 1990s discussed why male actors often maintain long careers unlike their female counterparts. In a recent interview she explained that male actors don't face the same challenges as women such as childbirth, pregnancy, or raising children which allows them to focus entirely on their careers.
Seshadri pointed out that male stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Jeetendra continue to thrive in the industry because they are not burdened with domestic responsibilities. She also noted that the ongoing appreciation for these actors helps sustain their careers.
Seshadri who left acting in 1996 to focus on her personal life and moved to the USA is now preparing for a comeback at 60. She expressed curiosity about the roles she might be offered noting that contemporary filmmakers will likely want to explore her current persona and artistic expression before crafting scripts for her.
