Mamta Kulkarni Resigns From Mahamandaleshwar Post

Actor Mamta Kulkarni, who recently became a 'mahamandaleshwar' at the Maha Kumbh, resigned from the position on February 10. In a video message, Kulkarni explained that there were objections from other saints regarding her appointment. She also alleged that she was asked for a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for the post, which she refused.

Kulkarni claimed that she had earned the position after 25 years of penance under the guidance of Chaitanya Gagan Giri Maharaj. She expressed her respect for Acharya Laxmi Narayan Tripathi of the Kinnar Akhara and revealed that the money was provided by Mahamandaleshwar Jai Amba Giri when she couldn't afford it.

Kulkarni, who took sanyas and performed her own ‘Pind Daan’ at the Maha Kumbh last month, mentioned that she felt the Chandi Devi she worshipped was signaling her to step away from this situation. The Kinnar Akhara, which Kulkarni was a part of, is an organization led by eunuchs under the Juna Akhara.
