The Malayalam film Rekha Chitram, produced by Venu Kunnappilly and directed by Jofin Chacko, has achieved remarkable box office success. This crime investigative thriller, filled with murder mystery elements, has become the first big hit of the year for the Malayalam film industry.
Starring Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan in lead roles, the film was made on a modest budget of Rs 6-9 crore. However, within just 13 days, it crossed the Rs 50 crore mark and surpassed Rs 75 crore in collections within 25 days. The movie also features Siddique, Jagadish, and Sai Kumar in key roles, with legendary actor Mammootty making a special appearance.
From its theatrical release, Rekha Chitram has performed exceptionally well, drawing audiences in every region. The film follows police officer Vivek Gopinath, who gets suspended due to a case but is later reinstated to investigate a high-profile murder mystery. As he delves deeper, he discovers an unexpected connection to a murder that occurred 40 years ago. The film unravels how Vivek pieces together the past and solves the present case.
Reports suggest that Rekha Chitram will soon be available for streaming on Sony LIV later this month.
