Karnataka Fans Angry at Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna, the rising star of Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, has been making waves with back-to-back hits. The Kannada beauty, who has established herself as a pan-India actress, recently added another success to her name with the film "Chhava." However, during the promotions of this movie, a comment made by her has sparked controversy, particularly among Kannada audiences.

Rashmika’s Controversial Comment

During the promotional event of "Chhava," Rashmika reportedly stated:

"I came from Hyderabad. The love and support I receive here make me so happy."

This statement did not sit well with Kannada audiences, as they felt she was disregarding her roots in Karnataka, particularly her hometown Virajpet. Many netizens began criticizing her for failing to acknowledge her Kannada origins and for calling Hyderabad her home.

Backlash from Kannada Fans

Despite starting her career in Kannada cinema, Rashmika has faced repeated criticism from Kannada fans in the past. The actress was previously engaged to Rakshit Shetty, but their engagement was called off after she gained widespread recognition in Telugu films. Many Kannada audiences sympathized with Rakshit and gradually developed resentment towards Rashmika.

Her limited involvement in Kannada films further added to the discontent. Even during the "Kantara" controversy, she faced backlash for not openly supporting the film, despite having worked with Rishab Shetty in the past. Rishab even took indirect digs at Rashmika in interviews, fueling the speculation that she had distanced herself from the Kannada film industry.

Mixed Reactions on Social Media

While Kannada fans accused Rashmika of neglecting her roots, her supporters argued that her words were taken out of context. They pointed out that in several interviews, Rashmika had mentioned her hometown Coorg (Kodagu), and that this particular statement was being misinterpreted and edited selectively for trolling purposes. Fans also shared multiple video clips where she referred to herself as coming from Karnataka.

Rashmika’s Current Status

Despite the controversy, Rashmika is currently enjoying the success of "Chhava" and is set to appear in "Pushpa 2", one of the most highly anticipated Telugu films. It remains to be seen whether this latest backlash will affect her relationship with Kannada audiences or if she will address the controversy directly.
