Kannada Hero Still To Remain In Jail

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his friend Pavithra Gowda's bail petitions were rejected by a Bengaluru court in the Renukaswamy murder case. Renukaswamy a 33 year old fan of Darshan, was found dead near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru in June. 

The case began when Renukaswamy allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra, angering Darshan. Instead of contacting the police they reportedly involved a fan group linked to Darshan, which led to Renukaswamy’s abduction and assault. Prosecutors argue that this assault with Darshan and Pavithra's involvement resulted in Renukaswamy’s death. 

Darshan in judicial custody since June claims he is being wrongly accused and was unaware of the victim. However chat records between Pavithra and Renukaswamy presented by the prosecution, indicate ongoing communication that escalated in June ultimately leading to the murder. The court remains unconvinced of Darshan's innocence.
