Kanguva In the List Of Oscar Contenders

Suriya and Bobby Deol’s fantasy action drama Kanguva has made it to the list of contenders for the Oscars 2025, sparking excitement among fans. The film will compete with over 323 entries from across the globe. The news was shared by film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan, who posted on social media, "BREAKING: Kanguva ENTERS Oscars 2025."

Despite the buzz surrounding its release, Kanguva failed to perform well at the box office, grossing only Rs 106 crore globally against its Rs 350 crore budget. The film, also starring Disha Patani, received mixed reviews, with some praising Suriya’s performance, while others criticized its sound design and execution.

Following the film's release in November, Suriya’s wife, Jyotika, defended the movie against negative reviews, claiming they were part of a "multiple group propaganda." Nonetheless, the film’s Oscar nomination has taken fans by surprise given its underwhelming commercial performance.
