Kangana Ranaut recently discussed why South Indian films, particularly Allu Arjun's Pushpa franchise, have outperformed Bollywood at the box office.
She criticized Bollywood for being out of touch with reality, stating that many Hindi films are disconnected from the audience's struggles. According to Kangana, Bollywood stars live in a "bubble" and focus on superficial elements like six-pack abs and item numbers, rather than portraying real, relatable characters.
In contrast, she praised Allu Arjun’s role in Pushpa, where he plays a daily wage earner, connecting deeply with the audience. Kangana argued that Bollywood needs a "reality check" and suggested that South cinema, by addressing all types of audiences, represents the true Indian film industry.
Pushpa has been a major success, grossing significantly both in its original Telugu version and the Hindi-dubbed one, solidifying Allu Arjun’s popularity.
