John Abraham’s The Diplomat Banned in Middle East

John Abraham’s latest political thriller, The Diplomat, has been banned in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. While no official reason has been given, sources suggest the film’s politically sensitive themes may have led to the restriction. This follows a trend of Indian films facing bans in the Gulf, including Tiger 3 and Sky Force, over controversial content.

Directed by Shivam Nair and written by Ritesh Shah, The Diplomat is based on real events, depicting Indian diplomat J.P. Singh’s mission to rescue Uzma Ahmed from a forced marriage in Pakistan. The film, which released on March 14, 2025, explores India-Pakistan diplomatic tensions. Despite the ban, it has gained attention for its gripping narrative and strong performances.

Neither Middle Eastern authorities nor the filmmakers have commented on the ban. However, the incident underscores the challenges of balancing creative freedom with regional sensitivities in global film distribution.
