'Jigra' In Regional Descrimination Controversy

Actor Bijou Thaangjam accused the makers of Jigra of unprofessional behavior after being locked for a role but never contacted once shooting began. He auditioned twice in 2023 and was told he’d shoot in December.

However despite being booked for the month he never received firm dates. Based in Imphal, Bijou made it clear that travel arrangements were needed but the team offered no updates and eventually stopped communicating. This led him to miss other opportunities. Bijou expressed frustration stating that actors from the Northeast often face dismissive treatment by big production houses, which he found discriminatory.

He shared his experience to highlight the challenges actors like him face hoping for awareness. Meanwhile Jigra struggled at the box office earning only Rs 16.75 crore. Additionally the film faced controversy when Divya Khossla accused the makers of copying her film’s story sparking further debates.
