Recently, Nayanthara hasn’t seen much success in the South. Though her Bollywood debut Jawan was a blockbuster, she doesn't seem keen on continuing in Hindi cinema and is still focused on the South. However, hits have been elusive.
Now, Nayanthara has decided to act in a film directed by her husband, Vignesh Shivan, once again. The official announcement of this project is expected soon. The last time she worked under his direction was in 2022.
Until now, Nayanthara has been selective, opting for roles with substance. But this time, she’s going for a full-fledged commercial entertainer under Vignesh's direction. This suggests a star hero will likely be part of the project, and Nayanthara is expected to appear in a glamorous role. Perhaps that’s why she recently requested not to be referred to as the “Lady Superstar” anymore.
Her recent film Test released directly on OTT and was a major flop—not only that, her performance received criticism, something she hasn’t faced in nearly a decade. That might be another reason she’s shifting gears and choosing a full-on commercial film now.
