Once a heartthrob who mesmerized the youth with her beauty, actress Mamta Kulkarni has undergone a complete transformation, leaving everyone surprised. Nearly 25 years later, Mamta Kulkarni has returned to India in an entirely new avatar—as an ascetic.
At the Maha Kumbh Mela, Mamta Kulkarni embraced the path of spirituality. Donning saffron robes, she performed rituals and claimed that she underwent this transformation under the divine guidance of Lord Shiva and Goddess Mahakali. She stated that it all happened beyond her control, as if preordained.
Mamta Kulkarni has now joined the Kinnar Akhada, an organization of transgender ascetics affiliated with the ancient Juna Akhada. As part of her induction, her name was changed to Shriyamai Mamtaanandagiri. Under the leadership of Acharya Dr. Lakshminarayan of the Kinnar Akhada, Mamta Kulkarni has taken on the ascetic life and has been conferred the title of Mahamandaleshwar. She is now set to travel across the country to promote Sanatana Dharma.
During the 1990s, Mamta Kulkarni was a sensation in Indian cinema, starring alongside Rs 2,000-crore drug racket last year. The Bombay High Court dismissed the case due to a lack of substantial evidence.
From ruling the silver screen to renouncing worldly life, Mamta Kulkarni's journey is nothing short of extraordinary.
