Flight Crew Chief Criticizes Netflix Series

Anil Sharma, chief of cabin crew during the IC-814 hijacking criticized the Netflix series "IC-814 - The Kandahar Hijack" for compromising the true story and portraying him poorly.

He expressed discomfort with the series agreeing with social media outrage over altered hijacker names. 

Sharma found the series painful to watch, questioning its portrayal of bureaucratic actions and the negotiator Ajit Doval, whom he knew personally as serious and professional. He also disputed the depiction of hijackers assaulting crew members, calling it unnecessary and controversial. 

The series' creators faced backlash with critics accusing them of changing hijacker names to protect certain communities. Netflix responded by updating the series' disclaimer to include both real and code names of the hijackers. The series is based on Captain Devi Sharan's book about the 1999 hijacking.
