Bollywood actor Fatima Sana Shaikh, known for her role in Dangal recently discussed her epilepsy diagnosis which she received while filming the movie. Initially she struggled with fear and denial worried about experiencing seizures publicly.
This anxiety led her to avoid public events to prevent any incidents as epilepsy is often misunderstood with many people mistakenly associating it with drug use or attention-seeking. Over time, Fatima accepted her condition, overcame the stigma and now openly shares her journey.
In an interview, she expressed frustration about public misconceptions and how inconsistent medication initially led to frequent seizures. Despite her fears, Fatima learned to manage her condition and is grateful for the Indian paparazzi’s understanding, who avoid using flash photography around her. Today, she faces her condition without shame, informing colleagues about it, and adapts her work environment to suit her health needs, allowing her to continue her career confidently.
