Actor-director Farhan Akhtar has a different perspective on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal compared to his father lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Although Farhan did not praise the film he expressed on YouTuber Raj Shamani’s podcast that he opposes censoring filmmakers.
He believes in the freedom of artistic expression stating, “I don’t believe that some things should be restricted. If someone tells me I can’t make a film like this, I’ll ask who are they to dictate what I should create? The laws of this country permit me to express myself freely.
The audience will decide what they want to see. I wouldn’t tell any filmmaker not to make a certain film.” Regarding alpha male characters Farhan commented that people have diverse preferences and that an alpha male is simply a leader. In contrast Javed Akhtar has criticized Animal for its controversial content specifically a scene he finds troubling.
