Kangana Ranaut has announced that her much-anticipated film Emergency will be released in theaters on January 17, 2025. This update comes a month after the actor filmmaker revealed that the film had finally received its censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), after missing its original release date of September 6.
Kangana, who portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the political drama shared the release date on her official X page describing the film as "the epic saga of the nation's most powerful woman and the moment that altered India's destiny."
The film, which is written, directed and co-produced by Kangana has faced controversy from Sikh organizations including the Shiromani Akali Dal who accused it of misrepresenting both historical facts and their community.
