In commercial cinema, heroine roles often don't offer much innovation. It's usually about appearing alongside the hero, dancing in songs, or showcasing physical appeal. However, even with the most routine characters, there’s often at least a slight difference. But with Disha Patani, there’s been no such change in her roles, which is quite noteworthy.
Recently, Disha has appeared in two South Indian films: Kalki alongside Prabhas and Kanguva with Suriya. In both of these films, the heroes play bounty hunters, and Disha portrays the same type of character in both films — the love interest of the bounty hunters.
It seems that playing the lover of bounty hunters is a common theme, but another shared element is that her characters are abruptly cut short in both films. In Kalki, as well as Kanguva, Disha Patani's roles are truncated halfway through the film.
Interestingly, both Kalki and Kanguva have sequels. The conclusion of Kalki hints at a part-2, and the question remains whether Disha Patani’s character will be repeated in Kalki-2. Similarly, whether her role will be repeated in Kanguva-2 is also yet to be seen.
Despite the abrupt end to her roles, Disha Patani has given her best in both films. Apart from her acting, she also treated the audience to a visual feast in one of the songs. Whether her next film in the South will see her as another bounty hunter remains to be seen!
