Actor Dhanush has filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court against actress Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Sivan for allegedly using visuals from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their Netflix documentary without permission.
Dhanush’s company, Wunderbar Films claims Rowdy Pictures used unauthorized footage, prompting him to seek Rs 10 crore in damages. He also requested court approval to sue Netflix’s Indian partner Los Gatos Production Services based in Mumbai.
Nayanthara denied the claims alleging Dhanush strong-armed her despite her removing the film's footage during edits. The court permitted the suit and asked Nayanthara to respond at the next hearing. This legal dispute follows rising tensions between the two actors, who avoided each other at a recent Chennai wedding. The 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, starring Nayanthara and directed by Vignesh, was where the couple’s relationship began, later culminating in marriage in 2022.
