Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday firmly denied making any statements that implicated his colleague and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the money laundering case connected to the now-scrapped excise policy.
Speaking in a city court after his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kejriwal clarified his stance.
"I have never given any statement saying that Manish Sisodia is guilty," Kejriwal said.
He stressed that neither he nor the Aam Aadmi Party including Manish Sisodia were guilty of the charges. Kejriwal's comments aimed to refute any suggestions that he had distanced himself from Sisodia or blamed him for the allegations.
The CBI's arrest of Kejriwal and the ongoing investigation have intensified the focus on the party’s handling of the excise policy and the associated allegations of corruption.
Kejriwal's defense mentioned his and the party’s collective stance of innocence in response to the allegations and legal actions taken against them.
