After her last film Kalki, Deepika Padukone took a long break from the limelight. Owing to her pregnancy, she even stayed away from the film's promotional events. Following the birth of her child, Deepika has focused entirely on motherhood. Now, as she prepares for her comeback, an unexpected roadblock seems to have appeared.

Recently, Deepika made an appearance at a fashion show as the showstopper for Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s 25th-anniversary celebration. Dressed in designer outfits, she walked the ramp with poise, but the look has sparked criticism online.

Fans, who were eager to see Deepika shine post her hiatus, expressed disappointment over her styling. Her white outfit, paired with bold makeup and accessories, failed to impress many. Comments like "How could they portray a supermodel like this?" and "She looks like an aged Madonna!" began trending. Some even likened her outfit to a grandmother’s winter coat.

Prabhas fans, who recognize Deepika as Sumathi from Kalki, were vocal too. "Sumathi, what has happened to you?" they remarked, showing concern over her appearance.

Deepika played a pivotal role in Kalki and is set to lead the story in Kalki: Part 2. The sequel’s shooting is slated to begin this year, with the release planned for the end of next year, as confirmed by director Nag Ashwin. However, these recent criticisms of Deepika’s look have added unexpected pressure on her highly anticipated comeback.
