The name Chhava carries deep historical and emotional significance. It refers to Sambhaji, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji, with Chhava meaning "lion cub." In that sense, if Shivaji was the lion, his son was the fearless cub. The Bollywood film Chhava, based on this legendary figure, is rewriting box office records and setting a new benchmark for historical films.
Despite a slow run on weekdays, the film is witnessing a massive surge during weekends. Even after its late release in Telugu, Chhava has managed to cross Rs 15 crore in collections. If not for certain legal constraints, the film could have easily touched the Rs 25 crore mark. So far, Chhava has grossed over Rs 700 crore, and in its fifth weekend alone, it added another Rs 22 crore, shattering previous records.
With this, Chhava has broken the Pushpa 2 record for the highest fifth-weekend collections. The Allu Arjun starrer had earlier held the record with Rs 14 crore in its fifth weekend, but Chhava has now surpassed it.
Coming to Baahubali 2, the magnum opus had earned Rs 8.5 crore in its fifth weekend. Meanwhile, Stree 2 had also made a mark with Rs 16 crore in the same timeframe.
