Chhaava Effect: Youth Digging For Gold In Burhanpur

A frenzy erupted in Madhya Pradesh’s Asirgarh village after rumors of buried Mughal-era gold spread, allegedly fueled by the depiction of the historic fort in Vicky Kaushal’s film Chhaava. Hundreds of people gathered at night, digging fields with torches and metal detectors in search of treasure.

Videos circulating on social media show locals feverishly excavating after claims of finding gold coins. However, no official confirmation has been made. Landowners are reportedly upset as their fields are being disturbed by treasure seekers. A resident, Wasim Khan, stated, “Gold coins are being found, and people have been digging for days.”

Authorities remain skeptical. Burhanpur SP Devendra Patidar said they are investigating the reports and warned of legal action against illegal digging. When police arrived at the site, the crowd had already dispersed, leaving behind freshly dug pits but no sign of treasure.
