Casting Couch has become a daily topic somewheer or other in entertainment industry.
Actress Sujata Mehta, known for films like Pratighaat, Yateem and Gunaah recently opened up about her casting couch experiences in the film industry, describing them as "traumatizing." In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, she revealed that despite her talent she was often offered roles with inappropriate conditions, which she declined.
Sujata explained that her decision to not compromise on principles led to losing many roles, while others, who made such compromises, succeeded. She noted that these actresses were talented but combined talent with manipulation, a path she refused to take.
Sujata also shared that she was originally cast as the lead in Rajesh Khanna's Jai Jai Shiv Shankar but was replaced by Dimple Kapadia, allegedly due to family reasons. The film was never completed. She added that casting couch incidents exist in every industry where power and ambition thrive, though things are improving as people are now more educated. Sujata was last seen in the film Dhara 370.
