Alia Bhatt, the popular actress is also known as the wife of Ranbir Kapoor who has been the talk of the nation as on-screen 'Animal'.
Alia, who is a passionate animal enthusiast has expressed her outrage on Instagram regarding a distressing video showing a woman cruelly mistreating a pet dog named Bira, a beagle breed.
Describing the incident as "disgusting and disheartening," she urged viewers to promptly report such incidents to the authorities.
In the video, the woman, seemingly the dog's walker, is seen hitting beagle Bira mercilessly. Alia emphasized the need for "stronger, stricter punishment" for those who vent their frustration on innocent pets.
Expressing her anger, actress Alia commented on the increasing lack of humanity in society. She commended her friend Sophie Choudry and others for their responsible actions.
Alia wrote, "Next time you see someone do this to a dog/cat any pet or animal, just take a video and take it straight to the authorities. There has to has to has to be stronger stricter punishment for people thinking they can just take out their frustration and crap onto a pet," Alia wrote.
She also added, "We have become so unbearably inhuman. It's just so disheartening and disgusting! Kudos to you my friend @sophiechoudry for being a responsible citizen and to all those out there doing the same."
Previously, Soha Ali Khan and Sophie Choudry had also condemned the incident, calling for authorities to take severe action.
Actress Sophie Choudry provided an update on Bira's situation by revealing that the dog's owners who are currently in Dubai have terminated the woman's employment. She clarified that Bira is now under the care of the Jehan Canine Centre.
Following the report to PPA INDIA's Chief Legal Officer, Advocate Trivankumar Karnani, the owners responded and communicated that the video was old.
