Amitabh Bachchan expressed gratitude to fans on August 2, a day he calls his "second birthday" marking 42 years since his recovery from a life threatening accident during the filming of Coolie in 1983.
The accident occurred during a fight scene with actor Puneet Issar resulting in a severe abdominal injury.
Bachchan was declared clinically dead briefly before being revived and undergoing multiple surgeries. After months in critical condition he returned home on August 2 a date now celebrated nationwide.
Bachchan posted on X thanking fans for their blessings and expressing his inability to respond individually.
“My love and greetings for all your blessings for the 2nd of August .. I am unable to reply to them individually .. so accept this as my response .. blessed - I shall make an effort though time permitting,” the Big B posted on X.
Bachchan conveyed his gratitude for the prayers from people of all faiths that contributed to his survival.
He reflected on the ordeal stating that he was unaware of the severity of his condition during his coma and emphasizing the difficulty faced by his family during that period.
