Amitabh About His Father's First Wife

Amitabh Bachchan shared insights about his father, renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and his first wife, Shyama Bachchan, who passed away shortly after their marriage leaving Harivansh deeply depressed. During a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Amitabh explained that his father's poetry became dark and sorrowful during this time. 

A few years late, Harivansh attended a dinner hosted by a friend in Bareilly, where he was introduced to Teji, Amitabh’s mother. Amitabh recalled that Teji, described as beautiful listened quietly as his father recited a poem moving both to tears. 

Following this emotional moment his friend encouraged Harivansh to place a garland on Teji, marking the beginning of their partnership. Harivansh and Teji married in 1941 and welcomed Amitabh on October 11, 1942. Amitabh recently celebrated his 82nd birthday.
