Age is Just a Number in Cinema, Says Mohanlal

The trend of senior heroes pairing up with much younger actresses has been a longstanding norm in Indian cinema. While this has often been criticized, particularly when actors in their 60s or beyond are cast opposite debutant heroines, many within the industry see it as standard practice.

Recently, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal addressed this topic. According to him, age is not a limitation for actors as long as they maintain good health and confidence. “If you have good health and the confidence to look fit on screen, age doesn’t matter for lead actors,” he said.

He added that this trend has been prevalent for many years in the film industry. "Actors who earn stardom continue to thrive for decades. There's no need to overthink this matter," Mohanlal remarked.

Mohanlal emphasized the importance of choosing roles wisely, stating, “What matters most is the actor’s comfort in portraying the character. Decisions about co-stars should align with the character’s requirements. As long as audiences embrace the performance, there’s no need to focus on such criticisms.”

The actor’s comments come amidst discussions about the casting dynamics in Indian cinema. His recent release, the pan-India fantasy film Barroz, has further solidified his stance as a seasoned and versatile performer in the industry.
