A female actor who accused several male actors, including CPI MLA M Mukesh and Jayasurya, of sexual abuse has decided not to pursue her complaints citing a lack of support and protection from the Kerala government. She criticized the government for its "carelessness" and expressed mental exhaustion from the ordeal.
Despite her decision she clarified that it is not due to any compromise with the accused but because of inadequate protection. She also alleged that she was falsely implicated in a POCSO case after filing her complaints and demanded a thorough investigation. She warned that the government would be responsible if she harmed herself.
Her accusations followed the Justice Hema Committee report which exposed harassment in the Malayalam film industry. The report created after the 2017 actress assault case led to 26 FIRs being filed by a special investigation team. However the actor claims justice remains elusive.
