Actor Rupali Ganguly has sent a defamation notice to her stepdaughter Esha Verma demanding Rs 50 crores in compensation. Esha has accused Rupali of having an extramarital affair with her father Ashwin K Verma, while he was married to Esha’s mother Sapna.
Ganguly’s lawyer stated that the defamation notice was issued due to Esha’s false and harmful statements, which were damaging to Rupali's reputation. The allegations made on social media, were said to be aimed at exploiting her public image for publicity. The legal notice claims the accusations caused emotional distress and tarnished Ganguly’s personal and professional integrity.
The dispute began when a post went viral where Esha accused Rupali of being "cruel-hearted" and having an affair with her father. Rupali was reportedly shocked by the claims especially since she had supported Esha’s career. The notice also highlights the damage caused to Rupali's career and reputation.
