Actress Revisits Rs 2000 Cr Drug Case

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, known for 1990s films like Karan Arjun, has returned to India after 25 years. Sharing her joy on Instagram, she marked her homecoming after leaving the country in 2000. However, her return also recalls a controversial chapter in her life; a high-profile Rs 2,000-crore drug case from 2016.

The case involved Avon Lifesciences, accused of trafficking ephedrine for methamphetamine production. Kulkarni and her partner, alleged drug lord Vicky Goswami, were accused of participating in a meeting to plan the operation. The accusations, primarily based on a co-accused’s retracted statement, lacked concrete evidence.

Recently, the Bombay High Court quashed the FIR against Kulkarni, citing insufficient proof and acknowledging her claims of being scapegoated. While the case tarnished her career and image, the court’s ruling has cleared her name, enabling her to move forward without the burden of the allegations.
