Actress On Illegal Bangladeshis In India

Television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee recently criticized journalist Rana Ayyub after Ayyub accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of inciting hatred against Muslims and turning Assam into a "communal cauldron." 

Ayyub's post claimed that Sarma was fostering discrimination and hate through his speeches and policies. Devoleena, who is from Assam defended the state's Muslim residents and argued that the real issue was not with local Muslims but with illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. 

She responded to Ayyub on social media saying, "When you don't know anything about Assam & its problems, just STAY AWAY... Assam is worried & frustrated with illegal Bangladeshis." 

Devoleena also stated that Assamese Muslims are educated and sensible and that there are no conflicts between communities in the state. Devoleena is known for her active presence on social media often commenting on social and political issues particularly those affecting her home state. She gained fame as Gopi bahu in the TV show Saath Nibhana Saathiya and appeared on Bigg Boss 13.
