Actress Kasthuri Arrested

Chennai police arrested actress Kasthuri in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, over her alleged derogatory remarks against Telugu people. She has been taken to Chennai for further investigation.

Kasthuri's comments revolved around historical claims that Telugu people served royal women centuries ago and are now identifying as Tamil. She criticized Dravidian ideologists for rejecting Brahmins as Tamils and for misinterpreting historical facts. Kasthuri also defended Brahmin teachings, arguing that their moral advice led to animosity in Tamil Nadu.

Her statements drew widespread criticism, forcing her to issue an apology while accusing detractors of twisting her words. Following a complaint by a Mahajana Sangam state member, police registered a case, leading to her arrest.
