Actor Kartik Aaryan discussed his unchanged relationship with money despite becoming one of the highest-paid stars of his generation.
In an interview Kartik revealed that he earned just Rs 70,000 for his debut film 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama'.
Growing up he experienced financial hardships with his parents constantly in debt which motivated him to pursue money.
On a podcast Kartik was asked about his rise in stardom particularly his jump from earning Rs 1 crore to Rs 40 crore in five years.
He clarified that for Pyaar Ka Punchnama he earned Rs 70,000 and even for his breakout film Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety his earnings were modest. He started making significant money only after Sonu.
Kartik shared that he used to worry about taxes, recalling that he made Rs 63,000 after tax deductions from his debut film.
Kartik highlighted that his middle-class background where his parents were always paying installments shaped his desire to earn money.
In a recent interview he revealed that he sacrificed his acting fee for Shehzada to support the pandemic affected production earning a producer credit instead.
He emphasized that many stars make similar sacrifices for their films' success.
In 2023 Kartik confirmed he charged Rs 20 crore for 10 days of work on Dhamaka justifying it by stating he doubles his producers’ investment.
Following the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kartik received a McLaren sports car from producer Bhushan Kumar. His next film is Chandu Champion directed by Kabir Khan.
