Actor-politician Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has opposed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) advocating that education should move from the Concurrent List to the State List to grant states full control over education policies. This would allow Tamil Nadu to eliminate NEET.
This position was reiterated in a party resolution, following Vijay's first public speech as a politician on October 27, where he criticized NEET. Vijay emotionally recalled the suicide of S. Anitha, a medical aspirant who couldn’t pass NEET, as a tragedy that deeply affected him.
Additionally TVK criticized Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK government for failing to curb crime, drug abuse and illicit liquor sales, claiming they prioritize the powerful over public welfare. The party also opposed the concept of "One Nation, One Election," deeming it undemocratic and condemned the Union’s attempts to enforce a third language policy reaffirming support for Tamil Nadu’s two-language system.
