Actor Regrets For Being Part Of 'Aadujeevitham'

Jordanian actor Akef Najem apologized for his role in the film "Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life" expressing regret over its negative portrayal of Saudi Arabia. He admitted he did not read the entire script and was unaware of how the film would impact Saudi Arabia's image.

Najem explained he accepted the role because his character, a Saudi man saves the hero lost in the desert showcasing Saudi bravery and humanity. However he was surprised to see the film also depict negative Saudi characters. This follows Omani actor Talib Al Balushi denying rumors that he was banned from Saudi Arabia for playing a ruthless sponsor in the film.

He clarified that neither Saudi nor Omani governments have acted against him and recently attended the Kerala State Film Awards.

Directed by Blessy and based on Benyamin's 2008 novel "Aadujeevitham" is a survival drama about an immigrant laborer forced to work as a goatherd in Saudi Arabia. The film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran was largely shot in Jordan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
