It is known that Vikrant Massey’s 12th Fail has won acclaim from audiences, critics and celebrities alike for its inspiring story and performances.
Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed at the IFP festival that he initially approached five directors to helm the film but they all declined with one even ghosting him. Faced with no director, Chopra decided to direct it himself, despite doubts from others about the project and its lead actor, Vikrant Massey. The film, based on Anurag Pathak’s book, follows the journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. Despite low box office expectations, 12th Fail became a major success.
Vikrant Massey also shared how deeply the role affected him emotionally. A special screening of the film was held at the Supreme Court, where Chief Justice of India Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud praised the film.
