Movie Gossip
BJP made significant publicity for the film "The Kashmir Files" when it was released. Similarly, "Kerala Story" was also promoted by the saffron party leaders.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi occasionally praises films aligned with the ideologies of BJP and RSS.
However, surprisingly, there has been no such strong support for the film "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" made and acted by Randeep Hooda.
Only some Mahastrrian BJP leaders like Priti Gandhi tweeted about the film. But that is not sufficient for a film of this stature.
Randeep struggled a lot for this film, undergoing a makeover to portray episodes related to Savarkar's captivity in Andaman Cellular Jail.
He lost a significant amount of weight, becoming skinny for certain parts of the film.
The film was released today and did not receive significant openings in many centers of India. Unless the makers plan for strong promotions and unless BJP leaders take it upon themselves to promote the film with their emotional words it may not sustain long at the box office as per trade analysis.
Some reviews say that the film is blatant propaganda. But to counter this the filmmakers need the support of RSS supporters and BJP leaders nationwide.
