Goodbye to Skype Services Soon

Microsoft’s video conferencing platform, Skype, which has been serving users for the past 23 years, will discontinue its services from May 5.

The company announced, "Skype services will not be available to the public starting May 5 this year. However, users can switch to Microsoft Teams (free) to access similar services." It also stated that current Skype users can transition to Teams and transfer their data there.

Microsoft has planned to gradually migrate users from Skype to Teams over the next three months. There were doubts about Skype's survival in the past. Currently, Skype allows users to make calls, send messages to individuals or groups, and share files.
