RBI Governor Announces Unchanged Repo Rate

The RBI has kept interest rates unchanged, with the repo rate remaining fixed at 6.5% for the tenth consecutive time. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the details of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting today, revealing that five out of six members voted in favor of maintaining the current rate.

Das highlighted that it's been eight years since the Monetary Policy framework was established, marking a significant institutional reform.

He also expressed optimism that food inflation may ease by the end of the year, attributing it to abundant rainfall and sufficient buffer stock.

Additionally, he noted that the share of investment in GDP has reached a peak, while the manufacturing sector has shown recovery, driven by strong domestic demand and supportive government policies.
