Here are a few details about him.  Lachhman Das Mittal  hails from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, born in 1931.

Earlier he worked as an insurance agent with LIC. Despite facing rejection when he applied for a dealership in Maruti Udyog, Mr. Mittal persevered.

He holds a Master's degree in Urdu and excelled academically at Punjab University. At the age of 60, he founded International Tractors Ltd  and introduced Sonalika Tractors in 1990. 

Today, the Sonalika Group operates worldwide with factories in five countries and markets in over 120 nations.

Although Mittal is not directly involved in the day to day operations of his company, his family plays a crucial role. 

His eldest son named Amrit Sagar, serves as vice chairman, while his youngest son Deepak is the managing director. Additionally his grandsons, Sushant and Raman, are also part of the company.

In addition to this, Mr. Mittal's daughter, Usha Sangawan, made history as the first woman managing director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India before retiring.
